Chau-Ram Falls County Park is one of the true treasures of Upstate South Carolina. Located at the confluence of Ramsey Creek and the Chauga River, Chau-Ram offers a whitewater slalom course, trout fishing,  waterfalls, trails, picnicking , camping, and a playground. Elrod Ferry Recreation Area

Season: Launching ramp open year round; open March 1 - October 31.
Park Hours: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m. unless actively fishing or boat launching.
Directions: Elrod Ferry is located off of US Hwy 29 in Hart County, Georgia, approximately 2.5 miles north of the city of Hartwell and approximately 3 miles from the Hartwell Dam and the Georgia/South Carolina state line.
Amenities: Launching ramp, comfort station, drinking water, picnic area, 2 picnic shelters (reservable!), 2 playgrounds, 3 designated swim beach areas, facilities for handicapped, courtesy dock, ramp security light, volleyball court.
Fees: Picnic shelters can be reserved in advance for $40 (each). $4 per vehicle day use fee, $3 boat launch fee from March 1 - October 31.

Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway

The Cherokee Foothills Scenic Highway (SC Hwy 11) has designated as Region 1 of the South Carolina Heritage Corridor for much of its length and has been featured by National Geographic Traveler, Rand McNalley, Southern Living and several other national travel publications. This 115 mile scenic highway is a great alternate to Interstate 85 through South Carolina. Whether you drive straight through or take your time and take the side trips, you are sure to enjoy your trip along South Carolina Scenic 11.

MOUNTAIN WATERS Scenic Drive - This 125 mile loop drive begins at the South Carolina Welcome Center at I-85 Exit 1 and covers three states, three national forests, 12 waterfalls, several spectacular mountain vistas, and numerous unique shopping areas. Great any month of the year but especially during Fall Leaf Season. This is one of the best fall foliage drives in the Southeast. Be sure to take the route in the order given here, otherwise you will probably miss the most spectacular waterfall on the trip (Cullasaja Falls #6).

Paynes Creek Multipurpose Trail - Mountain Biking, Hiking, Running

This 9.5 mile trail begins at the Paynes Creek Campground boat ramp located on the outside of the campground and features rolling hills and beautiful Lake views. 
Suitable for  beginners and advanced riders as well as runners and hikers.
Multiple events are held throughout the year that include mountain bike races, single speed bike races, and foot races.
The Paynes Creek area also includes a COE campground, public launch ramp  and a small sandy beach area (unofficial) to the side of the ramp.
